RMDSS History

This men's a capella harmony troupe has its roots in a quartet named the Streetlight Serenaders, formed in the year 2000. When one of its members moved on to other interests in 2002, tenor Roger Crist took over lead while veteran Clarence Walker was happily recruited to fill in the high notes. The guys decided to adapt their long-standing motto, "real men don't sing solo" into the acronym RMDSS as their new name.

The Serenaders were gone but the fun was just beginning. RMDSS quickly developed a reputation for lightheartedness, strong harmony and a genuine connection with their audience.

But opportunity knocked for one of the boys again as baritone Mike Fasano joined a competition driven quartet as their tenor. What to do? The question didn't remain unanswered for long. A newcomer, Dean Martin, strolled into a Catoctones Chapter meeting one Tuesday evening with a strong lead voice and an eagerness to sing.

Roger, more than willing to try his hand at yet another part, moved over to baritone to make way for the new lead. Dean, with his power and accuracy was a quick fit. It also didn't hurt that he's as wacky as his quartet mates.

With original bass, Bill Caputo, anchoring the foursome, the newly reconstituted and improved RMDSS now has all the pieces. Look for them to become a premier men's quartet - energized, powerfully harmonic...and as fun loving as ever.
